Content: This phase involved conceptualizing the digitizing of a Digital Entomology Lab to complement an online General Entomology course.

Content: Specialized equipment had to be purchased from multiple sources for the proper image capture.

Content: The photo box involved a fair amount of setup work for the right kind of light diffusion throughout the image capture space.

Content: This phase started in February 2011 and will likely continue into Fall.

Content: Image processing has occurred parallel to the image captures.

Description: Uploading of Imagery to Internal Site
Content: All the digital images were saved to a virtual workspace for posterity. The images were both in the raw form and the finalized form--one set for print use and one for online use. A consistent naming protocol was applied for easy finding of the imagery and the angles of the capture.

Description: Going Public
Content: The processed images were uploaded onto the Digital Entomology Lab site for public use. These were kept at fairly high resolution for easier analysis.

Description: Phase 2 Work
Content: Some initial work was done to plan what the next version of the Digital Entomology Lab would look like. The first version is very static and basically a space to hold the images until more funding and resources may be applied to the next development phase.

Description: Participatory Design for the Digital Entomology Lab, Phase 2
Content: Phase 1 has mostly consisted of image captures. Phase 2 will add the functionalities that will enable the digital contents to be used like an actual insect morphology lab.
